Walmart Opens First-Ever Pet Services Center in Dallas, Georgia

At Walmart, we’re committed to offering low prices to our customers to help them save money and live better – and that commitment extends to the entire family, including furry friends.

We’re uniquely positioned to offer significant savings to customers for all their pet care needs. As we continue to innovate within the category, I’m excited to announce our next step in increasing affordable access to much-needed pet services for our customers. Starting today, we’ll open the first-ever Walmart Pet Services center in Dallas, Georgia, located at 3615 Marietta Hwy – a key next step in our mission to help our customers save money and live better.

The data shows we have good timing.

Two-thirds of U.S. households own a pet, according to the American Pet Products Association, with unprecedented growth in recent years. In fact, it’s reported that 23 million U.S. households adopted a pet during the pandemic, significantly impacting the pet industry, which is expected to reach $277 billion in total spending by 2030. Unfortunately, many pet owners are feeling the burden of rising costs as pricing in the pet category continues to increase higher than the national inflation rate.

Dallas, Georgia welcomes a new pet services destination

We know that pet services are essential for pet parents, but for many, the experience can be costly and disjointed. At Walmart, we have an opportunity to help our customers save precious money, time and effort by offering a destination for pet services at the same place they purchase their pet food and supplies.*

Walmart Pet Services in Dallas, Georgia will offer low, transparent pricing for key pet services in a central location within a dedicated storefront. Services will be offered at Walmart’s Every Day Low Prices, including routine veterinary care (vaccines, wellness exams and minor medical services), grooming (baths, nail trims, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and basic hair trims) and a self-serve dog wash.

All services will be provided by qualified veterinary and grooming professionals in collaboration with PetIQ, so customers can rest assured their furry friends will receive high quality care provided by trusted professionals.

Another step toward offering affordable care for the entire family

Increasing access to convenient and affordable health care for our customers is central to our mission of helping people save money and live better.

It was a natural decision to pilot our Walmart Pet Services center in the same store where Walmart opened the doors to its first Walmart Health center in 2019. Now, customers will be able to conveniently access their family’s basic health care solutions in one central location, including the health care needs of their furry friends.

The Walmart Pet Services center in Dallas, Georgia will serve as a pilot where we’ll learn how best to work with our collaborators and optimize services to deliver on quality, affordability and accessibility. It’s our goal to bring the Walmart Pet Services model to other communities we serve in the future.

All your pet needs, one convenient location

While the Walmart Pet Services center is a key next step in how we’re continuing to innovate within the category and bring industry-leading solutions to our customers, we’re also evolving our assortment to bring affordable, on-trend offerings to our pet customers across the country.

Walmart currently offers in-store vet clinics on-site in over 65 stores across the country, owned and operated by PetIQ, and all Walmart pharmacies stock the top pet medications so customers can pick up their pet’s prescription while shopping in-store. And for an even more seamless experience, a new online Pet Pharmacy experience is coming soon to Walmart.com and the Walmart app.

There are even more ways to save on pet services via Walmart+. For a limited time, members can take advantage of benefits like 24/7 virtual access to licensed veterinary professionals via text and video through a free one-year Pawp membership and save $30 off services by Rover, including dog walking, sitting and boarding.

We’re proud to carry some of the hottest brands and on-trend products that reinforce Walmart as one of the best destinations for pet owners.

Plus, our new subscription service offers even more convenience to our customers, who can now schedule automatic deliveries of their favorite frequently purchased items at a cadence that fits their preference. Based on our pilot testing, the pet category has been where customers have most eagerly embraced this convenience. Now, customers can easily subscribe to their pets’ favorite food or treats, enjoying unmatched ease while taking advantage of the Every Day Low Prices they rely on.

We are excited to bring the Walmart Pet Services center to Dallas, Georgia residents to improve access to affordable and quality pet care and are eager to introduce the model to other communities in the future.
