Shares in Donald Trump’s media company soared as the firm made its formal debut on the stock market. Shares surged past $70 in early trade, giving the firm a market value of more than $9bn. They ended the day at about $58, still up more than 16%. The long-awaited moment will inject more than $200m into Trump Media & Technology Group and hands the former president a stake worth more than $4bn. Analysts say that is far more than the firm’s performance warrants. Trump Media’s Truth Social, a Twitter-like service, brought in just $3.3m in revenue in the first nine…
Bessie Coleman built an untouchable legacy, but the aviator’s tragic final flight is still shrouded in whispers of sabotage. The skies during Women’s History Month have witnessed a series of historic female flights. On March 16, Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri held the “first all-female two-ship T-38 flyover,” an aerial salute that soared above the KC Current stadium, the “first stadium to be built for women,” according to KSHB. United Airlines also held a special flight on March 7 that epitomized elegance in aviation and inclusivity on the ground. Aboard Flight 1215, which traveled from Newark, NJ, to Sarasota, FL…
WASHINGTON/BAGHDAD, Feb 3 (Reuters) – The United States launched airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against more than 85 targets linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) and militias it backs, reportedly killing nearly 40 people, in retaliation for a deadly attack on U.S. troops. The strikes, which included the use of long-range B-1 bombers flown from the United States, were the first in response to the attack last weekend in Jordan by Iran-backed militants, and more U.S. military operations are expected in the coming days. The strikes intensified a conflict that has spread into the region since war erupted between Israel and Hamas after the militant…
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Republican Party of Florida chairman is facing mounting pressure to resign as police investigate a rape allegation, with Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott joining Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday in saying Christian Ziegler should step down rather than be a distraction during an important election year. Beyond the possibility of criminal charges, Ziegler and his wife Bridget, a co-founder of Moms for Liberty, are being called out for the hypocrisy of admitting a sexual relationship with another woman even though they very publicly fight against LGBTQ+ rights. “The allegations are very disturbing,” Scott said in a statement released by his re-election…
While his endorsement will not come as a surprise to many in the commonwealth, it may be a significant boost Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is backing his protégé, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, in the competitive Democratic primary for his old job. McAuliffe, a Democrat, told POLITICO first on Tuesday that he would be endorsing Stoney in the 2025 race. He is expected to make a formal announcement as soon as Wednesday. While his endorsement will not come as a surprise to many in the commonwealth, it may be a significant boost: He brings a significant network of support and…
The victim is a 23-year-old Israeli tourist, authorities said. A 28-year-old New York City man has been indicted on hate crime charges stemming from an October antisemitic attack on a 23-year-old Israeli tourist in Times Square, prosecutors said Tuesday. Yehia Amin was indicted by a New York State Supreme Court grand jury on charges of stalking in the first degree as a hate crime, assault in the third degree as a hate crime and stalking in the third degree as a hate crime, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement. Amin was also indicted on one count of aggravated harassment…
When Julia Roberts has a new project coming up, it means we’ll get to see more of her signature elegant style. The actor is in the midst of promoting her new Netflix movie, Leave the World Behind, and lately she’s been showing off how to put a twist on more conventional looks. Just last week, the star of Pretty Woman was photographed wearing metallic, fringed pumps to match a pink tailoring set. But in this latest New York appearance, she wore a plaid cape coat over a gray sweater. The winning touch was the leather-effect leggings matched with Gucci loafers. Some shy away from this type of…
Zach Shrewsbury faces an improbable task to replace the conservative Democrat in the face of a Republican onslaught – but he won’t be put off To launch his campaign for US Senate, Zach Shrewsbury chose the site of one of America’s most famous hangings. Charles Town, West Virginia, was where state authorities executed the abolitionist John Brown after he led an attack on a federal armory a few miles down the road in Harpers Ferry, a pivotal moment in the lead-up to the civil war. One hundred and sixty four years later, Shrewsbury – who decided against attempting to get a permit…
State officials and business leaders on Thursday lauded a pair of fuel cell power generation projects in Derby as an important component of Connecticut’s energy future. One of the projects is already producing 14 megawatts of electricity on a piece of land sandwiched between Roosevelt Drive and the Housatonic River. A second fuel cell generating unit will begin producing 2.8 megawatts of electricity within city’s public works department complex on Coon Hollow Road later this year. Both projects are owned and developed by Danbury-based FuelCell Energy. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont said the state needs to take a multi-faceted approach to fulfilling its…
CLEVELAND, Ohio – In the future, you won’t have to travel at all to get your medication from the Cleveland Clinic. At first, the service will be used to send specialty medicines and other prescriptions to patients’ homes from more than a dozen Cleveland Clinic locations across Northeast Ohio. Cleveland Clinic will use drone company Zipline’s Platform 2…
