Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai received $226 million in total compensation in 2022, most of which came through stock awards, according to a securities report filed by the company on Friday. Pichai was awarded $218 million in equities last year through a triennial stock grant. His annual salary was $2 million from 2020 to 2022, the filing stated. The CEO’s compensation package also included almost $6 million for personal security in 2022. Massachusetts officials unveiled a new initiative Thursday to make it easier for people returning from state prisons to obtain a state-issued ID — considered a critical first step for successful reentry after incarceration. Under the new agreement signed last fall, the Registry of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Correction pledged to coordinate information on inmates coming up for release so that they can be issued a state ID by the time they leave prison. A coastal mystery continues along the eastern US, as eight dolphins were found washed ashore in New Jersey on Tuesday. They landed about 20 miles south of Atlantic City where relief teams spent hours working to revive the animals. Two of the dolphins died before workers arrived. The other six were euthanised to “prevent further suffering”. Over a dozen dead whales have been found along the US East Coast since December.
