Amanda Floyd scored her 1,000th career point, but Eastern spoiled PSU-Brandywine’s upset bid in a 77-68 win on Saturday.
Floyd, an Interboro grad, became the 11th member of the school’s 1,000-point club with her 11th point of the day, in the fourth quarter of her 68th career game. She finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. She almost got to that milestone in stellar fashion, inspiring the Delco Lions (5-6) to be tied after three quarters.
But the Eagles (2-7) scored the first five points of the final quarter and never trailed in the final 10 minutes of play. Jeriyah Johnson led Eastern with 22 points, six rebounds and five steals. Wynter Bess added 15 points, Ebony Johnson supplied 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Trinell Watson led PSU-Brandywine with 14 points. Kiara Koger posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Widener 52, Wilkes 38 >> Widener allowed Wilkes just four points in the first quarter and three in the third. That latter frame, in which the Pride (4-7) accrued an 18-3 edge, put the game away.
Jordan D’Ambrosio (Springfield) led the way with a game-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers. Gianna Samuels added nine points and five assists. Lindsay Kutz and Avalynn Baer each had six points and nine boards for the Pride.
South Florida 75, La Salle 50 >> Mia Jacobs scored 15 points off the bench, but the Explorers (8-5) were outrebounded, 50-27, and never found their offensive footing. Claire Jacobs added 10 points.
Men’s Basketball
Diandre Green and Maurie Alexander paired 18 points with eight rebounds each, but DCCC couldn’t match Montgomery County Community College in an 88-59 setback.
Vincent Boykin added 10 points for the Phantoms (1-9, 1-5).
Christendom 59, Williamson 52 >> Jack Grace (Ridley) scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Cashmere Young added 10 points, but the Mechanics (3-8) couldn’t overcome a seven-point halftime deficit.
